Is a liking that was not grounded in reality a liking that is real? Or it is like an idiot's hallucination?

Xuan says she never believes in love that is not grounded by a solid friendship. So when she was quite skeptical about me liking a girl I have not seen before.
The logical part of me agrees with her. I do not see a future in a friendship nor relationship that is constructed online. Part of me is not ready to declare "I love her". What if all this is an illusion and I am left with nothing? There are so many unknowns to this that prevent me from making a claim.
But she is a girl that I know is good. Although I've been waiting since last september, I know she has her difficulties. Despite her difficulties, she has shown herself to be sweet and caring. Part of me, the emotional part, feels that she is really someone who suits me. She loves the simple life like me. She cares for others, and is not materialistic. I love that.
But without knowing her for myself in real life, this can only be a dream. A dream that will have no end as long as we remain apart. Her admirers are numerous. So where do I stand? She has moved to reassure me of her sincerity and I believe her. I really don't want another failure like JL. I just want a normal r/s that will have a future. Is this possible? To do so, you must expect, and that is not a good thing as there is no reality to this. Thus, I resolved to care for her without any conditions, without expectations. May is the slated month when we shall finally see each other for the 1st time. I really hope then our friendship will advance to a higher level. Hope this will have a happy ending.
