However, because he lacks self-knowldge of his own abilities, his dreams are limited. He can only visualise himself as a salesman and nothing more. In contrast, lets say Ali has great self knowledge. He knows what he likes and what he doesn't. Thus, he knows that an office job is not suitable for him and his dreams are clearer and in that sense, less limited.

Finally, we can also disagree with the statement. Dreams are not limited by self knowledge of our own abilities. Rather, dreams are limited by our abilities themselves. This view separates abilities and the knowledge of abilities. It teases out the nuance that abilities are the ones that drive or limit the dreams that we have. Knowledge about oneself merely serves to facilitate the process of achieving those dreams, but it does not have a major bearing on the process itself. John may know or may not know his abilities, but if he has the substance, the 'liao' as we Chinese call it, he would have achieved those dreams regardless of whether he is aware or unaware of his own talents and limitations.

Just caught the show 'Secret' yesterday. The way Jay and Rain were meant for each other made me contemplate the nature of destiny.

Kid's camp

This past week was the best week in my holiday so far. I went to work at a kid's camp as a coordinator and it really was a wonderful experience. The pay was good, the bosses nice (although they were pretty 'spontaneous') and the children were absolutely adorable! They really rocked and touched my heart with their smiles, questions and innocence.
We played games, water gunfights, and drew lots of cartoons! At the end of the camp, we had a market day where children will set up stalls to sell using 'Cartoon Kingdom' money as the currency. As we ran out of printed CK $, we drew up some. I added a few more zeros to my notes and from the official limit of $50, I increased mine to $500 lol. The kids were really hyper active! And soo loving! I made a few loyal supporters lol. There were a group of 4 girls who told me that they were going to buy me as their slave (we coordinators were to be auctioned off to the children at the end of market day)!. I made another good friend with a 6 year old called Shusen, who told me 'Winnie kor kor, u are my best friend.' I wasn't supposed to tell anyone else my name, or take pictures with anybody except him lol. SOOO ADORABLE! I don't have his picture here, but his mum did take one on her phone and she said she'll send it to me soon =D. Anyway, here are the pics I took during market day.

I went Ubin today with my long time buddy Qi and his colleagues. Ok, I had the grandest plan to blog ALOT about this trip. But since I am sooo tired (I went for a wedding dinner after the trip), I shall use the pictures. A picture paints a 1000 words quiaff? AFF!

I am sick. I think it was coming all this while, the signs I mean. Aching body, bones creaking like an old hag's mouth that hasn't seen a kiss for eons. A throat that is rawer than the rawest sashimi (mmm.. sashimi *drools*). Anyhoo, I just scooted to the ALMIGHY DOCTER in the morning before the dew had formed and came back with 4 type of medicine, and $40 poorer.

Woke up at night to hear my mum near the door talking to someone. Guess what? They are spreading the Christian love. Now I am ok with Christianity! But this couple were dissing all the other groups and promoting their own. so I had to hatch an escape plan for my beloved mother. Poor mum! She was obviously tired from standing (they kept her there for 1/2 hr she told me later) and I detest people who are sooo centred on their own things to even notice that they are inconveniencing others. So much for Christian love from this two.

To help my mum escape, I called my home with my handphone and pretended that mum was needed. To her credit, mum acted her part very well. Great success! The two broke off contact to plague some other helpless creatures.

Now, I need to clarify that I ain't a heartless bastard.
But I really disapprove of the REN CI Hospital charity show, the NKF charity show and all charity shows in general.

Charity should come out of compassion right? Not because some1 is making u go on a guilt trip by performing dangerous stunts right? Now I agree totally that what RevMing Yi is a good soul. I admire his dedication. What I don't agree on is his agreeing to this charity show. If we Singaporeans need Charity shows to donate, then its like loving your loved one only on Valentine's Day.

We should love and be compassionate throughout the year. Not only certain dates. What needs to be changed is this mentality, this 'push and we donate' mentality.

It is hard, not being me, but being the 'me' others want me to.
Often, you get comments prescribing what YOU should do, how YOU should behave by others. Sometimes, these 'others' flare up at you, hurl insults at you for not being who THEY want you to be.
Such insults are often hidden under the veneer of 'this is what is RIGHT'. You must behave like this, because this is what THEY feel is right, not what YOU feel is right.
THEY ostracise you, often flaring at you because THEY feel that you are being insensitive to THEIR nees and THEIR beliefs.
The TRICK then, is to accuse YOU before YOU accuse them. However, being a peace loving person, 'YOU' will never accuse THEM of anything. Hence, to others, it seems that YOU are always at fault because YOU will always be accused of wrong-doings of some sort.
Have THEY ever wondered why something innocuous can be seen as something poisonous? I'll tell YOU why. Insecure bitches that they are, how can they see beyond their own needs and wants?

Rainy days

I was reading a friend's blog, and she likes rainy days.

Thinking about it, I realised that humans are quite preoccupied with rainy days.

Rainy days appear in movies when 1.) you are fighting a war 2.) when u are dumped or being dumped 3.) when you are lonely (you tend to stone in front of the windows)

I don't like rainy days. Soccer will get cancelled, rainy days allow viruses to proliferate, makes a 5 minute bus ride 15 mins, makes me cold, gives me foot rot etc. What about the disabled? Slippery roads are hard to navigate as it were, to the crippled, they must resemble a minefield.

But then that's if I go out. Rainy days are good if u have a roof over ur head, u r snuggled warm and cosy.

Rainy days are not just about wet streets and umbrellas. I think they allow us to appreciate what we have. To some of us, rainy days are just days to sleep at home and relax, but to others, they are major inconveniences that hamper their lives.

All my life, I've wondered about death. How will we feel when we die? What do we see? What is it that lies behind that door? Will I refuse to let go of life? By refusing to sleep(cuz ppl die in their sleep)?
Will I have special thoughts? That I can't vocalise? What is the feeling of helplessness? Imagine the feeling of leaving your loved ones, and knowing that you'll never see their faces again..
But one good thing is, you'd be joining the ppl u have missed.. My paternal grandfather is a good grandfather. He doted on me alot when I was young. I guess thats the only comforting thought about death. Letting go of worldly troubles, no more struggles, no more tears.

Another thing that bugs me is love. If love exists cuz part of God is inside us, why is it that love normally causes more pain than pleasure?
See I'm rambling on again. All my life, I ramble. Will some1 make sense of my ramblings and tell me what I am rambling about?

I am not a very deep thinker. In fact, I'm pretty random in my thoughts, chewing on issues as my mood sees fit. I am thinking recently, what caused me to be this way? Was it because I have been deprived of a father? With no male "focality" to mould me, I have developed into an emotional, needy freak. Right, you say, blame it on the world! How is it that some people are ambitious like hell while others are so contented with the status quo that moving them is akin to moving a mountain? Is it that bad to be e.c? Contentment breeds happiness. Hell to the $, to love, to fame! The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not WANT. Correct? Or am I confusing the two issues when I conflate them? Can one be content while being ambitious? For every bit of "stop and smell the roses", "Family will be the one with u when u die, not work" cumulating in the show "Click" by Adam Sandler, there is a counter which goes along the line "Git up u f***** bum!" and "I am breaking up with you cuz u only got a nissan while he has a lamborghini." Who can forget the most famous of them all? "Singapore is a meritocracy" and "We are a workfare society, not a welfare one". Faced with conflicting messages, how do one strike a balance? How about following that wonderful old man in JaPan? Work hard when u are young, bust ur butt for the company, and when u are old, retire and grow vegetables? What to write about these days? Everything has been pretty routine and normal I guess. However..

There's a reason why I am procrastinating and that is because I find many things I like about..

I dunch like to say "I like someone" then within a week, change interest. Its really farcical to do so I think.

It has to be, if not that trust is of no value, it'll be called blind faith. Trust must be mutual, the unquestioning support that we give to the other once its established. Alot of things can happen to erode that trust, but if its strong enough, if it was earned in the correct way, I guess the trust between people will never disappear.

Thanks to the gals for always being my voices of reason, and very vocal voices at that. Give me one more month.. =)

As much as I dislike shopping, I found myself in Orchard today with my good friend Elaine.
Why would any1 want to walk 10 km, rest and walk again is beyond my comprehension. Its not like we are the 3 Wise Men. At least they had a baby to look forward to! Not to mention they know their goal, instead of wandering around like a man using a spoilt compass (sounds like Capt Jack Sparrow eh)

But I really like to thank Elaine. She did not complain one bit as I led her on a scavenger hunt which took us from wisma to Taka to Tangs to heeren. And some of the clothes are chosen by her. I deferred to her taste as I have no clue abt clothes.

Espanyol Princesa sent me a book today. Its my bdae pressie. Jodi Picoult's "My sister's keeper". I shall read it tml. And that was accompanied by a very nice card. Thanks babe!

Ok bak to the shopping trip. I saved $20 today cuz a lady graciously lent me her Espirit membership card. Phew. See I got charm right? Flashing my mega watt smile. LOL. And Elaine, not to be outdone, bought everything except the thing she set out to buy. LOL. Elaine this gives u excuse to go shopping again right? Sly ger!

Thats abt the end of my trip. Short, but then I've never been much of a shopper. Haha =)

Monfortians, esp my batch, are a bunch of ruffians! That's what I surmised after the 2 hour chat me and my old mates had. We filled condoms with water, we had started a recess-time casino in my class, we shouted fuck you right in the muddle of lessons, we bullied people, we fought, we had basically, a f***ing good time! And we were supposed to be the creme de la crop. LOL. now we've grown up, and yea its fun to reminisce about the times when we were just puerile and pugnacious little bastards.

Good teachers:

If you are not comfortable working with young children, don't major in elementary education!

are inherently fair-minded. They are able to assess students on the basis of performance, not on the students' personal qualities.

have "common sense." It may sound a bit corny, but good teachers are practical. They can size up a situation quickly and make an appropriate decision. Whether managing a classroom, leading students on a field trip, seamlessly shifting from one instructional procedure to another, assigning detentions, supervising an intern, or dealing with policy and curriculum issues in the school, there is no substitute for common sense.

have a command of the content they teach. For elementary school teachers, that means having knowledge of a broad range of content in sufficient depth to convey the information in meaningful ways to the students. For secondary school teachers, it usually means having an in-depth command of one or two specific content areas such as mathematics or biology.

set high expectations for their students and hold the students to those expectations. If you are thinking about becoming a teacher, you should set high expectations for yourself, and demand excellence not only of yourself, but your students as well.
